Reflecting healthcare facilities' growing interest in reducing their carbon footprint, Air Liquide Healthcare's ECO ORIGIN™ offer is experiencing strong development. Less than a year after launching its solution for healthcare players, the company has already signed in 2024 contracts with 19 hospitals and clinics in six European countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain). Air Liquide Healthcare also announces its first contract in Brazil, with a renowned hospital in Sao Paulo, for the supply of certified low-carbon oxygen and nitrogen.

While the healthcare sector worldwide accounts for 4% of global CO2 emissions[1], several European countries have adopted emission reduction targets that encourage healthcare systems to reduce their environmental impact.

With the ECO ORIGIN™ offer, launched in early 2024 for healthcare players, Air Liquide Healthcare offers certified low-carbon[2] medical gases, liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen, produced using electricity from 100% renewable energy sources to hospitals. Air Liquide Healthcare is also committed to reducing the share of emissions linked to transport, through the optimization of delivery routes and the introduction of alternative fuels. The ECO ORIGIN™ offer allows to reduce the carbon footprint of medical gas supplies by an average of more than 70% compared with a standard supply.

Diana Schillag, member of Air Liquide's Executive Committee in charge of Healthcare, Sustainable Development and Procurement, stated:

"By ensuring traceability of the carbon footprint of medical gases - from production to delivery - our offer is increasingly appealing to hospital customers keen to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. It is fully in line with our ADVANCE strategic plan, combining growth dynamic and contribution to progress through innovation. As a responsible partner, Air Liquide Healthcare works alongside healthcare professionals to guarantee the supply of gases and simplify their management, while providing them with low-carbon solutions."
